How does Citi Grab Rewards card work?

The Citi Grab Rewards card is ideal for people living in the metro and in key cities where Grab services are available. This co-branded credit card offers up to 10x Grab Points (GP) when you use it on booking rides.

You earn 1 Point for every P30 you spend. You earn 3x Citi Grab Points when you use it on your dining, entertainment, and online subscriptions.

Technically, based on the terms and conditions, you earn only 5x points on your Grab transactions.

But wait, there’s more! Citi offers “5X bonus points” from June 11, 2019 – June 30, 2020 — so that’s where the 10x Grab Points comes from.

Spending Categories Points Earned (1 GP = P30)
Grab transactions 5X Citi Grab points + 5X bonus points (valid until June 30, 2020, only)

10X Citi Grab Points

Dining, entertainment, and online subscriptions 3X Citi Grab points
Other spending categories  1 Grab Point

To give you an idea of how many points you’ll earn, here’s a sample computation of your purchases amounting to P5,000.

Spending Categories Total transaction x Multiplier based on T&C Points Earned
Grab transactions (5X) P5,000 x 16.65% 833 points
Dining, entertainment and online subscriptions (Netflix, Spotify, iFlix, and iTunes) P5,000 x 9.99% 500 points
Other spending categories (retail, utility, travel, etc.) P5,000 x 3.33% 167 points

Keep in mind that even if you can earn up to 10x Grab Points, there’s a maximum cap of P10,000 worth of Grab transactions per statement cycle.

Just like the Citi Rewards and other Citibank credit cards, you can use your Citi Grab Rewards card with the #Love2Click promotions for online deals. Enjoy exclusive discounts at Zalora, Agoda, Booking.com and Winery Philippines amongst others.

If you’re living in these cities where Grab services are available – Bacolod, Baguio, Bataan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao City Iloilo, Manila, Naga, and Pampanga – then this might be a good option for you to manage your transportation expenses every month while earning points.

If you already have an idea of how much is your monthly expenses on transportation, then you can maximise this card especially if you’re living in Metro Manila.

Even if you don’t use it for your Grab bookings, you can still enjoy the 3x rewards points on your dining, entertainment, and online subscriptions. But make sure you’re not overspending just to get the rewards points.

Once you’re approved, you will enjoy your first six months as a member in GrabRewards Platinum Tier. You need to maintain a minimum spend per month according to GrabRewards Platinum parameters (the amount isn’t disclosed) to retain your status on your seventh month.

If you’re using the Grab app as a regular member, to reach the Platinum level, you need to earn 4,000 GrabRewards points by 31 December 2019. That’s a lot of points to earn. As a regular member, Grab allows you to earn 6 points for every P100 spent on GrabFood and GrabCar services.

However, if you have the Citi Grab Rewards, you won’t have to think about the math and numbers. You’re automatically upgraded to the Platinum account.

Lastly, if you have an accumulated spend of P120,000 for the whole year, you’ll get an anniversary gift worth P2,000 of Grab vouchers.

What can you redeem from Citi Grab Rewards credit card?
